DemandTec 3™ for Retail Available Today
DemandTec 3 Delivers Robust Integrated Pricing and Promotion Software
SAN CARLOS, Calif. – May 6, 2002 – DemandTec Inc., the leading provider of Demand Based Management (DBM) software, today announced the availability of DemandTec 3™ for retailers and manufacturers who want a clear understanding of consumer demand. For the first time, DemandTec 3 integrates pricing and promotion applications for retailers on a patent–pending platform that delivers advanced analytical and reporting capabilities, provides powerful enterprise–class scalability and performance, and offers a new intuitive graphical interface. The DemandTec 3 applications enable retailers to set price and promotion combinations that optimize sales, profit and price image.
DemandTec 3 analyzes consumer buying patterns in Point of Sale (POS) data to help retailers accurately forecast price and promotion sensitivities for every item in every store, and execute strategies that meet financial objectives. With DemandTec 3, retailers can forecast the impact of their promotion calendar with DemandTec Promotion, and integrate the projected promotion results into DemandTec Price, which generates base prices and business forecasts.
"This is the first time retailers can purchase fully integrated applications that allow them to make pricing and promotion decisions simultaneously," said Dan Fishback, President and CEO of DemandTec. "DemandTec 3 is the only DBM solution that allows retailers to closely align business strategies with consumer demand, which will ultimately boost margins, maximize revenue and improve price perception."
At the heart of DemandTec 3 is the robust DBM platform, which analyzes consumer demand and optimizes sales, profit and price image for every item in every store. The DemandTec DBM platform can integrate with legacy, back office, supply chain and web–based applications. It also provides the power to support future applications such as DemandTec Assortment and DemandTec Placement. Retailers can use DemandTec 3 to actively manage all items, and accurately forecast the impact of merchandising decisions. Now retailers can make better decisions on strategic trade–offs between profit, margin, and volume, while executing timely, effective tactics to differentiate brands and build customer loyalty.
Powerful Enterprise Class Platform
DemandTec 3 delivers a tenfold increase to its enterprise–class performance and adds robust security capabilities. Based on J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition), the DemandTec 3 platform is both database and operating system independent, providing true web–based application access. With its N–Tier architecture, DemandTec 3 also eliminates scaling bottlenecks and improves overall reliability and performance to support the optimization needs of even the largest retailers. This new version also enables critical data warehouse and legacy system integration through enterprise application integration adapters from WebMethods. DemandTec is an IBM Premier Business Partner and DemandTec 3 is certified for IBM AIX and DB2.
Intuitive New Interface
DemandTec 3 now improves workflow while reducing training and implementation time with its new graphical interface. DemandTec 3 is now completely web–based, and the new design allows for easy navigation. Category and pricing managers can view new pricing approval screens and a variety of new reporting capabilities designed to perform "what–if" calculations on strategy.
