Corporate Citizenship
Corporate Citizenship at DemandTec
At DemandTec, we strive to integrate social responsibility into all of our business practices, from how we treat our employees and encourage diversity to vigilance regarding our impact on the environment to meaningful investments in our communities. Our mission is to identify areas where our employees can have a tangible impact and generously donate time and financial resources to give back to our communities across the globe.
DemandTec’s Corporate Citizenship Community (CCC) engages a cross-functional and geographically diverse set of employees to refine our ongoing strategic direction, ensure proper infrastructure for sustainable and global execution, and identify specific initiatives where DemandTec employees can play a unique role, particularly in the areas of math and science education as well as youth development.
The DemandTec Foundation
As part of this commitment, The DemandTec Foundation was formed in January 2008. The DemandTec Foundation was created in close partnership with two respected Bay Area organizations, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the Entrepreneur’s Foundation, in order to ensure ongoing funding for causes important to our employees.
Flagship Program: The DemandTec Retail Challenge
The DemandTec Retail Challenge is a scholarship program that provides high school seniors with a rich experience of real business issues and decisions including a heavy dose of merchandising, marketing, and of course math content! Students are presented with a business case study and relevant data and are asked to develop and present their ideas and solutions. The problems focus on solving a common retail challenge (e.g. pricing to achieve an objective) while encouraging the team to think about a variety of category management principles. Results are presented to a panel of experts, and each winner will receive a monetary scholarship to assist with furthering their education.
DemandTec Retail Challenge 2008
Since this program has been so well-received in the Bay Area we have scaled and improved upon the concept in the hopes of reaching as many students as possible. We are pleased to announce expansion to four markets for our 2008 contest, with the help of customer sponsors:
- Safeway - San Francisco Bay Area
- Target - Minneapolis
- Wal-Mart - Northern Arkansas
- Giant Eagle - Pittsburgh
