Markdown Optimization Best Practices is Focus of DemandTec and AMR Research Webinar Scheduled for December 2, 2008

SAN CARLOS, Calif. – November 24, 2008 – DemandTec, Inc. (NASDAQ: DMAN),
a leading provider of on-demand optimization solutions for retailers and consumer products manufacturers, will host a webinar titled Discover Markdown Optimization Best Practices for this Holiday Season and Beyond at 8:00 AM PST, 11:00 AM EST on December 2, 2008. The hour-long session will feature Kevin Sterneckert, research director for retail at AMR Research, and Marc Dietz, vice president of marketing at DemandTec, and will be moderated by Joe Skorupa, editor-in-chief of RIS News.

This timely webinar will address the clearance and markdown challenges retailers face and present best practices designed to eliminate excess inventory quickly and profitably, both in a challenging holiday season and throughout the year. Among the practical approaches to be discussed are:

  • Markdown optimization for grocery and hardlines, not just softlines retail
  • Optimizing markdown timing and depth to maximize profitability
  • Building a business case to employ advanced approaches to markdown optimization
  • Mastering markdown practices that provide a year-round competitive advantage

“Clearance pricing for discontinued seasonal or other short lifecycle merchandise is a challenge in any economic environment, but one that may be exacerbated with shifting consumer demand during this holiday season,” said DemandTec’s Dietz. “This webinar will highlight how a better understanding of consumer demand and best practices with advanced optimization capabilities can improve a retailer’s profitability during a difficult economic climate.”
