2008 Retail Challenge
For the third straight year, DemandTec hosted its annual Retail Challenge. The DemandTec Retail Challenge is a scholarship program that provides high school seniors with a rich experience of real business issues and decisions including a heavy dose of merchandising, marketing, and of course math content. The Retail Challenge was co-sponsored by DemandTec customers Safeway, Target and Giant Eagle as part of a community outreach program designed to foster awareness of the practical applications of math in a business environment.
The winners of this years challenge will be awarded a scholarship for the 2009-10 school year to the college or university of their choice. The judges named the winning teams of Ellie Weyant and Miranda Bruno from Kiski Area High School in Leechburg, PA, Bron Malcolm and David Lurvey from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, Elliott Jons and Adam Weimerskirch from Champlin Park High School in Champlin, Minneapolis, and Karen Ladenheim and Colin Vasick from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, CA, during an awards ceremony held on November 20, 2008 at DemandTec’s headquarters. The event was attended by students, school faculty, parents, Safeway representatives, and DemandTec employees.

JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge – Teaming up for a Greener Tomorrow

For the 8th straight year DemandTec employees participated in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in San Francisco on September 17, 2008. Based on fostering a global celebration of corporate fitness and camaraderie, the event celebrated its 32nd anniversary with more than 5,600 people from 259 companies running, jogging or walking a 3.5 mile course on San Francisco’s Crissy Field. This year’s theme, Teaming Up For A Greener Tomorrow, focused on lessening the consumption of energy and paper resources. This was evidenced by t-shirts printed with soy ink, environmentally-friendly event vendors, shuttle transportation provided to the races, online registration, and on-site recycling. Globally, the corporate challenge has donated over $600,000 to charitable organizations this year; a portion of which has been given to the YMCA of San Francisco’s Claire Lilienthal Learning Academy.
