Statistician - United Kingdom

Based in the United Kingdom, the statistician works closely with other members of the Professional Services team to develop  cutting-edge analytic insights for retailers and consumer product manufacturers. He or she will develop sophisticated marketing and merchandising analyses combining DemandTec’s modeling and optimization science and the vast amounts of customer data stored in our systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid analytic and quantitative background, and programming expertise in S-Plus or similar statistical packages. In addition, the candidate must have good written and oral communications skills allowing them to describe sophisticated analyses to less-quantitative customers and team members. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple and shifting priorities. He or she must be able to work well with others with minimum supervision in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Professional Services teams and clients to manage the demand modeling process across multiple customers
• Code and test new analyses and enhancements based on modeling output and historical POS
• Deliver regularly scheduled analytical output across multiple customers
• Work with Product Management and Engineering teams to move mature analyses into the DemandTec platform
• Perform ad hoc diagnostic and exploratory queries and analyses

Required Experience:

• Excellent analytical programming skills
• Familiarity with major statistical software packages, especially S-Plus
• Good written and oral communication skills
• S-Plus experience

Required Education:

• Quantitative BS Degree (Ideally in Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science)

Desired Skill Sets:

• 1-3 years of work experience
• Programming experience in S-Plus and Java
• Background in Econometric modeling
• Experience conducting retail merchandising and marketing analyses
